Roger Binny is a former Indian cricketer known for his all-round abilities, especially his contribution to Indian cricket during the 1980s. Born on July 19, 1955, in Bangalore, India, he played as a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. Binny is particularly remembered for his performance in the 1983 Cricket World Cup, where he was the leading wicket-taker, helping India clinch its first-ever World Cup title. His ability to swing the ball helped him pick crucial wickets throughout the tournament.
Binny had a successful international career, playing Test and One Day International (ODI) matches for India from 1979 to 1987. In Test cricket, he played 27 matches, scoring 830 runs and taking 47 wickets. In ODIs, he played 72 matches, scored 629 runs, and took 77 wickets. Apart from his World Cup heroics, he was also part of the Indian squad that won the Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket in 1985.
